Meet Josh Vollberg, Band teacher at Bowman Hills School.
Josh Vollberg is the Band Director at Bowman Hills and Lester Coon, where he teaches recorders, beginning band, advanced band, and private lessons. This is his first year at Bowman Hills, and he has taught music at Lester Coon for five years.
Josh earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from Southern Adventist University and a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He is licensed to teach Music K-12.
Josh has a special connection to Bowman Hills. He attended Bowman Hills as a student and his grandfather started the band programs at both Bowman Hills and Lester Coon. Josh is proud to continue the band programs at both schools. His favorite color is blue, and his favorite Bible character is Noah because Noah followed God’s calling and had faith. Aside from band, he enjoys walking his family’s dog, working out, and playing drums. When it comes to food, his favorites are his wife’s enchiladas and pasta.
One of his favorite parts of teaching is helping students grow, gain confidence, and discover the joy of making music.
His favorite Bible verse is from Psalm 150:3-5:
“Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet,
praise him with the harp and lyre,
praise him with timbrel and dancing,
praise him with the strings and pipe,
praise him with the clash of cymbals,
praise him with resounding cymbals.”
